What is PAC?

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is the official collective voice of parents at our school. Through its elected representatives, the PAC can provide advice to the school board, principal, and staff on any matters related to the school and students’ education.

PACs serve as a vital forum for parents to discuss issues impacting their school and their children’s education. Parents play an invaluable role by sharing ideas, offering support, and helping navigate the challenges faced by public schools. PACs aim to reflect the diversity of their communities and work toward the success of all students by:

  • Keeping parents informed and educated about school initiatives.
  • Encouraging parent involvement through volunteer opportunities.
  • Providing a platform for open dialogue about parents’ concerns and hopes for the school.

Together, we can build a stronger, more supportive school community!

Who are members of PAC?

Every Parent is a PAC Parent

At Bayridge, every parent or guardian of a student is automatically a member of the PAC, as outlined in the BC School Act. It doesn’t matter if you attend meetings or volunteer at the school—you’re an essential part of our community. Together, we share the goal of supporting our children and enhancing their school experience!

How does PAC Support the School?

Each year, parents collaborate to determine how best to support the school using PAC funds and parent volunteers. Below are some of the ways we contribute:

  • PAC Funds:
    • Field trips
    • Care and support for families in need
    • Classroom wish lists
    • Library and music program enhancements
    • School-wide activities (e.g., hip-hop dance, Sports Day, school clubs)
    • Gingerbread house icing supplies
    • Staff appreciation events (tea or lunch)
  • Parent Volunteers:
    • Assisting with Sports Day
    • Organizing and supporting staff appreciation events (tea or lunch)
    • Helping with track and field event

These contributions strengthen the school community and enrich the experiences of students and staff.
